12 of 12
Here's my very first 12 of 12, an idea started by Chad. I admit that I cheated a little and took pictures in clumps, some of the same thing. And I don't have any with a body part (of mine) in them. But still, this was a lot of fun. I completely forgot until I read Jenna's post about it! Thanks for reminding me, Jenna :)

Here are my captures of a rainy, boring day! All with my 30mm f/1.4.

11:30am - Chinese food truck outside a U of T library (my first library visit for the day).

11:30am: Hot dog stand outside the same library.

12:15pm: Walking to the subway. I love the umbrella to the left! I want one.

1pm: Lunch at La Mexicana. Soooo good. I devoured these chips in about 1 minute after taking this photo. Then I waited a very long time for the rest of my meal.

1:30pm: Finally, fajitas. (With my statistics book in the background, let's not talk about that lol)

1:30pm: The all-important guacamole, pico de gallo, and cheese. I think pico de gallo is my favourite food ever. I regularly eat it on its own.

4:30pm: Library #2: Toronto Reference Library. I love the light in this little area, it's my favourite spot to sit. I just love libraries, actually.. They make me feel so peaceful.

5:00pm: Hanging plant in the library. I love that they have live plants.

5:45pm: I want a cinnamon roll!! But I spent all my money on lunch :(

6:45pm: 3 almost-2-year-olds and a 3-year-old. My idea of a fun night :) Sorry, I can't show the little guy's face. He was over for a sleepover! The rest are my regular little friends.

9:45pm: Beautiful flowers. You can actually see them in the background of the above photo. A big bunch of beautiful roses. The lights were hitting like a spotlight, I couldn't resist.

10:00pm: After putting my camera away, I decided to try a new angle. I love the result! Not sure whether to call it backlighting or what, but it's cool. A flower yearning for the light.

LOVE the first one of the library. It has such a vingage-y feel! Your changing headers are amazing too. You inspire me to get off my duff and go find some neat stuff to photograph! :)

Add me to the growing list of lovers of the library photo. You should offer it to the school (preserving your rights of course!) to use on greeting cards or other advertising. It's beautiful.

The picture of the roses are breathtaking. You are officially my idol.

I'm hope you do the 12 of 12 every month!

Great pics Ellen!

I love the roses, and your library pic is very cool.

Got to love life as a student when all your lunch money is spent and then you can't get treats after lunch :(

I'm glad you took part in 12 or 12. I was hoping you would :)

And, totally not 12 or 12 related:

I kind of thought you were a vegetarian because I noticed the vegetarian links on your blog. I eat fish sometimes. It's something I'm on and off of. My boyfriend calls me a fishetarain.

Ellen, you take incredible photos! I could only dream of being able to take a photo of chips and salsa and make it look like a brochure. Thank you so much for sharing.

Hey, I'm a vegetarian. Are you a vegan? :) We are so alike!

LOVE #1...what is 12 or 12? Also love the cinnamon rolls one and the last one! They all have such a photojournalistic feel. I feel like your style is evolving. :) In a good way! but you always had a nice style anyway!

I giggled when you said you liked that they had live plants...they's hardly have dead ones hanging about?! hehe, j/k...that's just what it made me think of! :P

Lunch looks yummy and libraries make me feel peaceful too. You know, I am going to have to visit you sometime! I have about 20 second cousins who live in Toronto. The rest in Vancouver. It's because all my grandma's sisters live in Canada. Then I could visit you!

Amy - Thank you! Libraries are a great thing to love from a young age, so yours are off to a good start :)

Melody - Thank you :)

Willowdawn - Thank you so much! That's such a great compliment. *Blush* lol.. My mom's a librarian, maybe I'll use it for her retirement card!

Jennifer - Thanks! I hope you got something to eat ;)

Meghan - Thanks! I'm so glad you told me about the 12 of 12, it was really fun. I'll definitely try to keep it up.

Jenna - Lol at fishetarian.. I'm glad you did the 12 of 12 too! You'd better post another reminder for me next month lol.. And you love the poor student life? You can have it ;)

Sheryl - Thank you, and it's nice to "meet" you :)

Helen - Thanks! I get called your name almost every day :)

Beth - Thank you! I enjoyed your 12 of 12 too.

Christie - Lol! Thanks for the cinnamon roll thoughts. You should definitely get the 30, it's awesome. Maybe as a house-warming gift to yourself.

Lulu - I'm not vegan, but I eat a lot of vegetarian food. I usually only eat meat when other people cook for me. Most days I don't eat any. I love vegan blogs for food ideas though, especially for taking to school because I always worry that meat/dairy will go bad. Thanks for the comments, and I get what you meant about style (in a positive way.) I love that you think that! Lol about the dead plants. This is a huuuge library though, so I really don't know how they keep them alive! And OMG, you have family here?? What if I know them? Woah. That would be crazy. You deifnitely need to come visit now, no excuses :)

Sheila - Thanks! You should do 12 of 12 too.

Haha yeah a vegetarian club. I'll make sure not to post any pictures of meat :S

Sherri - Thank you! I was going for refreshing since everything is so dreary here! Glad it worked :)

Oh my gosh Ellen!!! I LOVE that last one with the roses and yearning for the light! Awesome comp. I like all the pictures of course, but I said "wow" out loud when I saw the last one. :)

Can you explain 12 of 12? Thanks.

Ellen said...

Thank you Amy!

Katie, the 12 of 12 was started by Chad (link is in the post), and basically you take 12 pictures on the 12th of each month. Apparently it used to be about having a body part in each picture, but that idea's drifted away. It's just idea.. You should do it next month!
